Overview

Formula One is the highest class of international single-seater, open-wheel auto racing, sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). Contested since 1950, every season awards a World Drivers' Championship and a World Constructors' Championship across a calendar of Grands Prix run on permanent circuits and street tracks around the world.

Points are scored by the top ten finishers at each Grand Prix, with shorter sprint races at selected rounds. The sport fuses cutting-edge engineering — aerodynamics, hybrid power units and tyre strategy — with elite driving, and ranks among the most-watched annual sporting series on the planet.
