The Current Era

2026 figures after Round 18, the United States Grand Prix.

Alpine are sixth on 69 points. Pierre Gasly leads the team's scoring with 42 and Franco Colapinto has 27 in his first full season. The Enstone factory has a long record of producing a quick car when the regulations change, and the early signs of the 2026 ruleset have been more encouraging than the seasons that preceded it.

History

Origins, eras and the people who shaped them.

The Enstone team began life as Toleman in 1981, and is remembered from that period for one race: Ayrton Senna's second place at a rain-shortened Monaco in 1984, in only his sixth Grand Prix.

Benetton bought the team in 1986, and after a decade of steady progress won both championships in 1995 with Michael Schumacher, who had also taken the drivers' title in 1994. Renault bought Benetton in 2000 and, racing as a works team from 2002, won consecutive doubles in 2005 and 2006 with Fernando Alonso — the results that ended Ferrari's dominance.

The team has changed name repeatedly since: Lotus from 2012 to 2015, Renault again to 2020, and Alpine from 2021. Through all of it the factory at Enstone and the engine operation at Viry-Chatillon have stayed in place.
