Overview
Neymar is Brazil's all-time leading goalscorer, having passed Pelé's total of 77 in 2023. His £198 million transfer from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 is still the largest fee ever paid for a footballer.
He formed the MSN attack with Messi and Luis Suárez that won the treble in 2015, and scored the decisive penalty in the 2016 Olympic final in Rio, giving Brazil the one football title it had never held. Injuries have interrupted almost every season since 2018; he returned to Santos, his first club, in 2025.
