Overview
Ronaldinho played with a visible enjoyment that made him the most watched footballer in the world for about three years. The elástico, the no-look pass and the toe-poke from thirty yards were all part of a repertoire he used in competitive matches, not exhibitions.
He rebuilt Barcelona after a fallow period and won the Champions League in 2006. His performance at the Bernabéu in November 2005, after which the Real Madrid crowd stood and applauded him, is among the most unusual tributes ever paid to an opposing player. He also scored the free kick from forty yards that eliminated England in the 2002 quarter-final.
