Overview
Andrés Iniesta scored the goal that won Spain the World Cup, in the 116th minute of the 2010 final against the Netherlands. It was the only major trophy Spain had never held, and it completed a run of three consecutive international titles.
He spent sixteen seasons in the Barcelona first team, playing in a midfield with Xavi and Sergio Busquets that defined possession football for a decade. He was never a prolific scorer but scored in unusually large matches: the 2009 Champions League semi-final at Stamford Bridge in stoppage time, and the World Cup final.
