Overview
Salvador Cabañas was among the leading strikers in Liga MX and Paraguay's first-choice centre-forward when he was shot in the head in a Mexico City bar in January 2010, months before the World Cup.
He survived, with the bullet left lodged in his skull, and later returned to play in the Paraguayan lower divisions — a recovery regarded as extraordinary by his doctors.
