Asamoah Gyan is Ghana's all-time leading scorer and the leading African scorer in World Cup history with six goals. He scored the extra-time winner against the United States in 2010 that took Ghana to the quarter-finals.
In that quarter-final against Uruguay he missed a penalty in the last minute of extra time after Luis Suárez's deliberate handball on the line; Ghana lost the shootout and no African side has reached a World Cup semi-final.
