Overview
Taiwan's professional league — six clubs, a split season, and the Taiwan Series.
The Chinese Professional Baseball League is the top professional baseball competition in Taiwan. Six clubs play a 120-game split season; the winners of the first and second halves qualify directly for the postseason, which ends in the best-of-seven Taiwan Series.
Baseball is Taiwan's national sport, and the island's record in Little League and international youth competition is out of all proportion to its size. The senior team's win over Japan in the 2024 Premier12 final was among the most celebrated results in Taiwanese sport.

History
The CPBL began in 1989 with four clubs. Game-fixing scandals in 1997, 2005 and 2009 nearly destroyed it, costing several franchises and much of its audience; sustained integrity reforms and new ownership rebuilt attendance through the 2010s.
Like the KBO, the league drew international attention in 2020 as one of the first competitions anywhere to resume play. Taiwan's 2024 Premier12 title marked its first senior world championship in baseball.
Governance
The league is governed by its member clubs under a commissioner, and operates under the Chinese Taipei Baseball Association for international play.
