Davor Šuker won the Golden Boot at the 1998 World Cup with six goals as Croatia, playing in their first tournament as an independent nation, finished third. He remains their all-time leading scorer.
A left-footed striker with unusual finishing range, he won the Champions League with Real Madrid in 1998 and later served as president of the Croatian Football Federation.
